clarity message cloud shape

Since 2013, I have been obsessed with the idea of helping people find work they love. Assisting people as they explore their career options is the most fulfilling thing I could do with my life right now.

The reason for this obsession is simple:  people deserve to feel happy and fulfilled at their jobs! Everyone should have an opportunity to figure out what will make them happiest in their work.

That's why it means so much when I can help someone get precisely where they want to go on their path towards happiness.

I want everyone to work in a career that taps into their unique gifts, talents, and aptitudes so they can feel fulfilled. And I wish for them to be happy to go to work.

It is no fun when you dread going to work every day.

it's time for a new job

The problem most teachers have when they decide they don't want to teach anymore is that they don't know what they would love to do or what they can find that will feel fulfilling.

Many teachers only ever wanted to teach, so they need some clarity about what they would like to do instead.

Along with clarity, however, is a need to understand how to approach writing a relevant resume.

You can't just write a one-size-fits-all document that will appeal to every company or hiring manager. As soon as you know the type of position and industry you would like to work in, you should create a standout resume tailored specifically for those positions or industries!

So, the first step in any successful job search endeavor is getting crystal clear about what you want.

what do you want?

Once that's done, writing your resume will be easier. And of course, it must match the position for which you're applying!

Knowing where you're headed with your career goals or aspirations is the most important thing, but it can also feel like the most difficult thing to determine.

It is a waste of time, however, to go for jobs or careers that you don't really care that much about or have any interest in, so instead of applying for a lot of jobs, take some time to take stock and assess what it is you want in life. THEN you will be ready to tackle your resume.

Most people don't get that initially, which is why they struggle so much with the whole process of job hunting. Few people know what they are doing when they start out.

That is why most people need professional help. And this may be doubly true for teachers who have only ever taught. Clarity--knowing what you want and then having the courage to go for it--is the key.

Clarity is the #1 thing you need to know before you start looking for a new job or a new career.

Need a new job now

Clarity may be gained when you read, journal, meditate, pray--do whatever you need to do to get in touch with yourself. Consider what you want to be doing with the time you have left on the planet. Do you want to work in a job or career that is meaningless even though it may pay the bills? Most of us would be okay with less money if we knew that they were doing meaningful work. Most of us want to impact the lives of others positively.

It isn't "woo-woo" to consider that your work should align with your sense of mission and purpose in life.

Teaching can be a tremendously rewarding career. But let's be honest. It isn't the same job that it was 15 or 20 years ago. There is so much pressure on teachers and students that most of the fun has been sucked out of both teaching and learning.

Time for change

That's where I come in. I offer valuable education, expert information, and professional advice on how to leapfrog from the classroom to a new job in the private or non-profit sector.

I help teachers translate the skills they have into the language hiring managers understand.

In this day and age, you undertake a job search alone at your peril. There are too many ways you can blow it and delay your success. Trust me.

You need help.

I am offering a free Masterclass on three different dates and times in June as I start my 16th Group Coaching Cycle.
