As I write this message, I am watching and listening to the commentary on the news about the social unrest that we are experiencing as a country--as a global community even--right now.

As I was trying to decide what to write about this week, I thought of the song, "Let There Be Peace on Earth."

This is the song my church sings at the end of every service as we hold hands with one another (pre-pandemic.)

The lyrics start with these words:

"Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let There Be Peace on Earth
The peace that was meant to be"

You can listen to a YouTube version of the whole song here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_DxNpW1kHQ.

Truth be told, peace is all we are seeking isn't it?

Inner peace as well as peace and harmony between ourselves and others.

That thought led me to the idea that we have to work on cultivating our sense of inner peace.

It isn't something that always comes easily or naturally.

There are many ways you can cultivate inner peace, however.

And they don't need much preparation or effort.

Words have power. So why not use them to your advantage?

words have power on newspaper

By repeating specific mantras to yourself throughout your day, you can create a sense of inner peace that can become part of your inner experience and reality.

Let me offer some specific mantras that you can use to help yourself feel inner peace even in the face of all the external unrest that is going on right now.

I Am Amazing

This mantra is useful because it is true. You ARE amazing. Each of us is.

Yet, how many people feel a sense of self-loathing instead of a love for themselves?

Too many of us fail to respect our amazingness.

I don't mean in a way that makes you mistreat others. I mean in a way that you recognize the amazingness of others while acknowledging your own.

We forget that we are each one of us amazing, beautiful, and one of a kind.

Repeat this mantra, "I am amazing" often so the words will come to you quickly when you need them the most.

I Am Grateful

Gratitude is a sure way to tap into happiness.

When you are grateful for things in your life, you are making an effort to remind yourself of all the good things you have going for you.

The law of attraction dictates that this positive attitude attracts even more good things.

So practice gratitude each and every day as often as you possibly can!

Be grateful that you woke up this morning. Be grateful for the air you breathe that keeps you alive. Be grateful for the sun and the wind and the rain.

Concentrate on all that is going well in your life instead of those things that aren't so great.

I Love Myself Just as I Am

I love me lettering

One of life's most important--and sometimes most difficult--lessons is to love ourselves.

If you feel as though you haven't gotten to the point of full self-love and respect, then repeat these words until you do:  I love myself just as I am."

Say them when you are pleased with yourself. But also say them when you are disappointed in yourself.

You cannot love others fully and completely unless you can love and accept yourself, faults, foibles, and all. So, start loving yourself.

I Am a Magnet to Good Things

Expecting good things helps to bring them to you.

Think of yourself as a magnet to everything amazing that you want in your life.

Knowing that you are a magnet will help draw those things to you.

Your self-confidence and positive spirit attract what they put out. You will see your life becoming enriched as you repeat this mantra often.

I Attract Healthy People into My Life

We all tend to have people in our lives who hold us back.

It may not even be intentional, but it still happens.

For example, perhaps you had a parent who told you that you couldn't do something you wanted to try, so you didn't.

Or maybe you have a spouse who once loved you but now chips away at your confidence with cruel remarks.

You need to intentionally create a circle of friends who are as hopeful and positive as you are.

Avoid the drama other people create.

Repeat this mantra to yourself whenever you find yourself tempted to get sucked into someone's negative energy.

I Can Do Anything I Set My Mind To

I can and will motivational concept

Believe in yourself and have confidence that you can achieve anything you want.

When you know that you can do anything you set your mind to, you will find unlimited happiness in that knowledge.

Speak these words when you are struggling to change your situation.

Know that you have the power to make it so.

I Have a Purpose

We all need to feel that we are living our purpose.

Life feels pointless without that sense of knowing that you are living your true purpose.

There are plenty of books written on the subject. They can help you analyze your life and find out what your specific purpose is.

Think about the things you love. What gives you your greatest feeling of satisfaction?

You have something unique to offer the world, and this mantra reminds you of that fact.

The words we use, both internally and externally, hold incredible power.

Mantras are a great way to set us on the path to inner peace and greater happiness.

When you use your words to bring positive things into your life, you will find deeper happiness.

Repeat these mantras and find out what a difference they will make for you.

And don't forget this. The magic that you seek is not outside of you somewhere. You don't need to look any further than the mirror. You make your own magic. So, stop looking for it. Embrace it and make your life the amazing experience you want it to be.

Stop looking for the magic, you are it
