When You Have Passion and Purpose, You Can Forget All About Failure

what would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

Something amazing happens when you identify your passion and start living with purpose.

You become an action taker. You start moving instead of staying stuck in endless inertia. You stop over-analyzing everything. And you give up on trying to second guess yourself.

People with passion and purpose stay focused on success!

stay focused and never give up

They don't dwell on all that might go wrong. They feel excited about what they have chosen to do, and that excitement and enthusiasm keep them moving in a forward direction.

Becoming an action taker is easier when you have an end goal in mind. Stephen Covey, author of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People wisely advised, "Begin with the end in mind."

If you have a clear vision of the goal(s) you have for yourself as part of your passion and purpose, you can easily start with the end in mind. Create a plan, working backward to where you are now. By doing this, you create a roadmap of sorts by which to go.

When you are making any significant change in your life, this is good advice to follow. Regardless of whether you set the goal to lose 10 pounds or start preparing for a marathon, you need to plan ahead for success. You don't just wake up one morning and say, "I think I will run a marathon today." I guess you could do that, but you wouldn't last long because you won't have planned and trained for it.

To run a marathon, lose 10 pounds, change jobs/careers, or make any other significant change in your life, you need to first look at the big picture. What is your ultimate goal? Why is it important to you? Who else will you impact when you succeed?

Warning. If it isn't critically important to you to succeed, save your effort.

You will only stick with something that has deep meaning for you. This is why so many people give up short of being successful in various endeavors. They don't want the result badly enough to stay with it when it starts to get hard. And there will be bumps in the road, guaranteed.

"Begin with the end in mind."

begin with the end in mind

Keep yourself motivated by posting photos that resemble your end goal or inspirational messages that inspire you around the house. Place them on your refrigerator or tape them to your bathroom mirror. Stick them up around your office. Keep your end goal in constant sight and remind yourself frequently why this is important to you.

When you feel passionate and purposeful and have an end result in mind, that's when you start to take action. Want to lose 10 pounds? Clean up your diet starting today. Start walking more every day and begin today.

Want a new job?

First, decide what it is you want to do, and then start taking action toward that end. If you need to hone your skills or learn new ones to position yourself for the job or career you want in the future, start getting that training now.

Talk to people who are already in the type of job you are interested in. Learn as much as you can about the job and what it entails. Make sure that it is something you really want to pursue.

Remember that there is power in taking action toward a specific purpose. You will feel an inner drive that keeps you motivated. You must want this goal for yourself. It has to be for you, not someone else.

let's get started

Of course, taking action doesn't mean immediate success. Few goals worth pursuing can be accomplished easily and none of them can be done overnight. That goes for weight loss goals as well as changing jobs. You have to develop patience and persistence along the way. You will undoubtedly hit a series of obstacles or bumps in the road. You may feel challenged by unforeseen circumstances. These are tests of a sort. How badly do you want the end result?

Do you want it badly enough to keep going no matter what?

It may wind up being the case that you can't accomplish your goal without help. In the weight loss area, there are many opportunities for finding support. I have lost 19 pounds this year using Nutrisystem, for example. I did this after several years of saying to myself that I wanted to lose some weight to improve my health, but I never got serious about it. That changed in February of this year, and within four months, I was down 19 pounds!

It is also true that if you want to change your job or career, you may need support. I know I wasn't able to go it alone. I learned pretty quickly after starting a job search in January of 2013 that I was out of my depth. I didn't know what I wanted, and I felt over-educated and under-qualified to do just about anything I might have been interested in doing.

I also felt overwhelmed with all the moving parts of a successful job search. It didn't take long for me to realize I needed help, so I hired a career coach after years of thinking I could do everything on my own. I am pretty much a self-sufficient kind of woman, after all. I have done lots of things and accomplished a lot in my life without any kind of coach.

But smart people realize when they need help, and I think I am pretty smart. I recognized that enough had changed over the years in the realm of job hunting that I needed guidance in the job search realm.

That one decision led to a whole new life, and I have never looked back.

As a result, I am now a Heart-Centered Career Transition and Job Search Coach. Why "heart-centered?" Because I don't offer a cookie-cutter approach for any of my clients. I want each of them to identify their own unique passion and purpose so that they can live fully satisfying lives filled with joy again.

In the work I do, I get to help people identify their passion and purpose, and that lights me up. I get as excited as my client does when she or he hits on the thing they have wanted to do for ages but were afraid to go for or didn't know how to make it happen. What held them back before was they didn't see a way forward. In many cases, they didn't think it was even possible.

If you are feeling like it is time to make a change in your life professionally, I have two tremendous opportunities for you.
