Who Needs Stress Management? You Do!

Kitty Boitnott, Ph. D., NBCT, RScP

Career Transition & Job Search Coach | Certified Stress Management Coach

During these hot, "dog days of summer," many of us are trying to take vacations and find some time to relax and rejuvenate, aren't we? Everyone needs to decompress periodically. Vacations are good for your mental health as well as your physical health. There is something very healing about getting away from the grind of daily routines and exploring new places while also gathering new experiences. It helps you to come back feeling refreshed and better able to handle the day-to-day routine again.

Vacation time is an obvious time for de-stressing, but let's face it...we live in stress-filled times. Unless you have decided to go off the grid entirely, you are bombarded with messages through TV, social media, news outlets, etc. It is almost impossible to filter it all out, and as we become more dependent upon our phones and our email accounts to keep us "in the loop," we lose the capacity to shut off the outside stimuli. It is very stressful!

That is why we all need to practice intentional habits that are designed to help us better manage our stress.

In case you aren't aware of it, I am a Certified Stress Management Coach, and last year, I wrote a short e-book on stress management techniques. I give the book away although it is available on Amazon, so if you don't have your copy, just download it by clicking here. Consider it a gift. I hope you will find it helpful.

Stressed, Stretched, and Just Plain Overwhelmed

Because July is winding down and August is almost upon us, I know that a lot of my teacher peeps who are readers of this weekly message are starting to think about going back to school. Work days will be gearing up soon. There will be the round of meetings and back-to-school events. Many folks will be going in on their own time to put up bulletin boards, organize their rooms, and "nest" as they prepare for the new year.

Others are just anticipating the first of the new school year with a sense of dread. I know because I talk to those folks every day.

Regardless of which group you may fall into...the eager beavers or the ones who are dreading the start of the new year...you need to manage your stress.

Stressed unchecked and unmanaged can and will make you sick.

That is a fact, and you ignore that fact at your own peril.

Because of that, I am hosting a new online workshop which is scheduled for August 4 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The title of the workshop is "Back to School Tips for Stress Management for Teachers," but you don't have to be a teacher to get something out of this presentation. So, I invite you to attend this upcoming presentation, live and for free.

Your may register for the workshop here.

In this presentation, you will learn 7 specific strategies for better managing your stress, but you will also learn why it is so critically important to your overall health to use these strategies in your life daily.

Teachers face a particular kind of stress...this is what I believe.

I also know that others have stressors of their own, no matter what their line of work. Working moms have a particular kind of stress, too, and people who find themselves between jobs also suffer from stress that is different from the day-to-day stress of life.

And let's face it...we live in particularly stressful times. It is now almost a daily event that we see and hear about attacks on innocent people all over the world. We are no longer shocked when we hear of dozens of people killed by deranged madmen who are taking out their own inner rage and frustration on innocent bystanders.

We all need techniques and strategies--"tips"--on how to better manage our stress, so I hope you will join me in the presentation, "Back to School Tips for Stress Management for Teachers," whether you are a teacher or not. I especially hope you will join me, however, if you are a teacher. I want to help you get into the right mindset as you start another school year.

So, join me, won't you?

Again, to register, just click here.

Until next time.

Not sure you are feeling overly stressed compared to other people? Then take this free stress assessment.  If you answer 10 or more of the questions with a "yes," then you should be sure to mark your calendar for the 4th of August and attend this workshop.
