I start each of my group coaching sessions with the reminder that "Work that feels fulfilling leads to a happier life." It is an affirmation that I truly believe, and I remind my clients that they are in the group because they seek work that feels more fulfilling than what they are doing now.

Most of my clients are teachers, and when they went into teaching, it was with the idea that teaching would be fulfilling. And it can be.

But the truth is that teaching isn't as much fun as it used to be. There have been so many changes over the years that, in some cases, teaching has become too stressful to be sustainable. And this past year, with the pandemic, many people who were already feeling over-stressed felt themselves buckling under the pressure.

When your job starts to make you sick, it's time to make a change.

Lots of people fall into ruts. They stick with what they know because it feels safer than going for something new and different. After all, most of us don't like change and have to have it forced upon us.

But I am here to tell you that if you find yourself dreading going to work, you are flirting with trouble. The stress that goes with that kind of dread in the pit of your stomach will ultimately make you sick. It's not a matter of "if" but "when."

Generally speaking, teachers have had a lot added to their plates this year, and the expectations have been unrealistic. My experience, however, is that most teachers will bend themselves into pretzels trying to please because that's what they want to do. Teachers are natural helpers. Their instinct is to do whatever they can when asked, and many of them don't know when or how to say "no" when asked to do something that overloads their plate.

As a result, many teachers are suffering from chronic fatigue and frustration. And many are thinking about making a change but don't know where or how to start a job search.

For those who have thought, "There must be something else out there that I could be doing with my education and skills," the good news is that there is. But you have to search it out. It's not going to come looking for you.

Some people hope that the Job Fairy will just come to their door, bringing a new job opportunity. Sadly, that is unlikely to happen. Not that people don't sometimes get noticed without putting themselves out there. But that is not the rule. It's the exception.

If you want to change your life so you can feel happier and more fulfilled in your work, you will have to decide to do something about it. And then you are going to need to take action.

How to get what you want clipboar

And that is exactly what you can do by checking out my new Masterclass that I am offering this week. The first presentation will be today at noon EST. I will also be offering one Thursday at 8:00 PM EST and again on Saturday at 1:00 PM EST.

The purpose of these Masterclasses is to help those ready to make a change learn some of the basics of job hunting. You need to decide what you want to do, and then you need the tools to help you make the change you want:  a relevant resume, a compelling cover letter, a stellar LinkedIn profile, and strong interview skills are the basics. You also need to know the proper way to network, how to re-brand yourself for your new career and how to use social media like Twitter and Facebook in your search.

I will be covering all of that in the Masterclass that I am offering. If you would like to check it out, register here:  https://event.webinarjam.com/register/26/27l48aml.

I will be showing up LIVE, and while I am offering the information in the presentation, I will also be available to answer any questions you might have about job hunting.

If you want to join us, click here https://event.webinarjam.com/register/26/27l48aml and select the date and time you can attend.
